Married Shelly in North Dakota and after 10 years at North Dakota State University, was offered a faculty position to develop a new Horticulture department at Kent State University in Ohio. I’ve found out that teaching can be a very heartwarming and rewarding profession and currently teach courses in Landscape Design and Architecture, Turfgrass management, Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture and Soils management. I am also responsible for the success or failure of my department which can be stressful at times but good ol’ Clinton high school trained me well. Bought a home in Salem, Ohio last year and have been having a lot of fun raising 4 boys. What a thrill! I still love good ol’ “Rock-n-Roll” and still play the drums in Bar Bands. Miss my days at Clinton High and hope you will stop in and see us sometime. Our door is always open to you all.

Following high school, I went to college for 4 years at Stevens Point where I received a degree in Interior Design. I then married David and we spent 4 years in East Lansing Michigan, where I worked as a designer and he pursued a Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology. We lived in Chapel Hill, NC for 2 years, then Philadelphia, PA for 2 years. W e have been here in Lewisville, NC the past seven years. Both my girls were born here and yes, they say “ya’ll” despite my efforts to the contrary. They are in public school and I spend time volunteering and am currently a PTA board member. School simply isn’t what it was when I was at Clinton. We enjoy living in the country outside Winston-Salem where my husband currently works as a Master Scientist for RJR/Nabisco. We have the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other and often vacation at each. We feel we are enjoying the good life and hope you all are too!
